The mod is based on a YouTube video that shows how easily the MacBook Neo can be opened. The author tested two thicknesses: 1 mm and 1.5 mm. Important: Use high-quality, electrically non-conductive pads with good thermal conductivity. The installation takes only a few minutes and requires only a Pentalobe P5 screwdriver.

Selecting the right thermal pad thickness

The thickness determines the contact with the bottom housing. At 1 mm there is often a small air gap – the cooling effect is lower. At 1.5 mm perfect contact is created, the heat is drawn away much better. The underside of the housing becomes noticeably warmer during operation, logical, but thereby the heat is drained from the SoC and the MacBook stays faster for longer.
