Guide: How to Perform an Air Filter Change on the NIO ET7 Yourself

A climate air filter, also known as a cabin filter, ensures that the air entering the vehicle’s interior through the ventilation system is cleaned of pollen, dust, dirt particles, and even odors at times. Even though the NIO ET7 is still one of the relatively rare Chinese vehicles on German roads, with a correspondingly low workshop density, you can easily perform the air filter change yourself.

The appropriate replacement parts can be ordered effortlessly through NIO Support – quickly, reliably, and tailored to your vehicle.

When should you change the air filter in the NIO ET7?

An air filter performs the important task of filtering out pollutants such as dust, pollen, soot, fine dust, and other contaminants from the outside air before they enter your vehicle’s interior. Over time, however, the filter accumulates these particles – reducing its efficiency, and the air quality inside the vehicle noticeably deteriorates.

A clogged or dirty filter can even become a breeding ground for bacteria, mold, and allergens, which are released directly into your breathing air when the air conditioning is turned on. This poses a serious health risk, especially for allergy sufferers, children, or individuals with respiratory conditions.

A regular replacement of the air filter not only ensures clean, fresh air inside the vehicle, but also protects your health in the long run.

Changing the air filter in the NIO ET7 yourself – it’s that easy!

Before you start changing the air filter in the NIO ET7, make sure to order a suitable replacement filter through NIO Support. Ensure that you also have the appropriate tools at hand to safely and damage-free remove the plastic clips. Then, open the passenger door and, as shown in the images, carefully insert a spatula or a suitable prying tool into the side panel of the dashboard.

Gently detach the side panel and then remove the front panel of the dashboard – it is securely clipped and requires some force. Once both panels are removed, the access to the air filter housing cover becomes visible. This cover is secured with two clips that can be unlocked with a gentle press. Remove the cover and take out the old filter.

When installing the new air filter, please ensure that the "Airflow" arrow points downward and that the colored side of the filter also faces down. Then, reattach the cover of the air filter housing and press the clips firmly until they click into place. Finally, reassemble the dashboard trim parts in reverse order.
