How does the toll exemption for electric vehicles work in the Czech Republic?

The road toll in the Czech Republic is an issue that affects travelers with vehicles of all kinds. While there are special benefits for electric vehicles, tolls generally apply on all motorways and expressways in the country. Depending on the vehicle and the desired duration of validity, the costs vary.

For passenger cars, motorhomes, or combinations, the prices (as of December 2024) are 200 CZK (about 8.20 EUR) for one day, 270 CZK (about 11.07 EUR) for ten days, 430 CZK (about 17.63 EUR) for thirty days, and 2300 CZK (about 94.30 EUR) for a full year.

This article explains how electric vehicles are exempt from this regulation and what steps are necessary to take advantage of the toll exemption.

What conditions must be met for toll exemption?

Travelers with battery-electric vehicles without an internal combustion engine can look forward to a special regulation in the Czech Republic: these vehicles are exempt from tolls on motorways and expressways. However, this exemption is not automatic.

You must submit an application for toll exemption as a driver before using the roads. The application allows you to provide the necessary proof that your vehicle meets the requirements. Only then can you benefit from the advantages and travel through the Czech Republic without worry.
