Apple Magic Keyboard to an ergonomic Logitech Wave Keys: My Experience

Imagine using your Apple Magic Keyboard together with the Apple Touchpad continuously for ten years. That’s exactly what happened to me before I decided to look for a new, more ergonomic solution—because my Apple Magic set gave up on me yet again. I wanted a keyboard with practical multifunction keys, a numeric keypad, and a comfortable wrist rest. Something more exciting. At the same time, I definitely wanted a matching mouse that looked harmonious alongside it. Both had to be completely wireless via Bluetooth—no USB dongle, please!
Before I switched to Apple products for work, I had already accumulated years of experience with Logitech multifunction keyboards in a variety of designs—from wildly shaped models to those with plenty of extra (and sometimes unnecessary) buttons and knobs. For example, having dedicated Word and Excel keys was once considered innovative. 😁
It was especially important to me to maintain an Apple-style layout—no keys with labels that didn’t fit my needs. After an intensive three-month test phase, I can now share my verdict on the Logitech keyboard and mouse combo.
Wrist Rest vs. Wrist Pain:
What are the Benefits of an Ergonomic Keyboard?
An ergonomic keyboard is a worthwhile investment if you want to type more comfortably and healthily in the long run. Not only do you benefit from better hand and arm positioning, but you also prevent potential injuries at the same time. Especially if you spend many hours a day in front of the computer, the right keyboard can be crucial to avoid tension and pain. The most important benefits at a glance:
- Less strain on wrists and fingers:
Thanks to the split or curved design, your hand position remains more natural, protecting tendons and muscles. - Prevention of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury):
An ergonomic hand position reduces the risk of tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, which often arise from repetitive movements. - Improved posture and reduced shoulder strain:
Ergonomic keyboards allow for a wider arm position, relieving stress on your shoulders and neck. - Higher typing speed and less fatigue:
Thanks to the optimized hand position, you often type more efficiently and feel less immediate fatigue. - Adaptability and customization:
Many models offer adjustable tilt angles, split layouts, or programmable keys so that you can tailor your keyboard to your exact needs. - Fewer typing errors:
A more relaxed finger and hand position leads to fewer accidental keystrokes, resulting in greater accuracy. - More comfort during long writing sessions:
In particular, people who write or program a lot every day notice significant relief and enjoy their work more.
This is very subjective, but at least for me, typing on the curved keyboard is more fun. It also offers more individuality.

Logitech Wave Keys and Lift for Mac
I chose the Logitech Wave keyboard and Logitech Lift mouse in the macOS version—both are also available with a Windows layout. Because I value a friendly look, I went for the white option, especially since my previous black Magic Keyboard always looked greasy so quickly.
The mouse and keyboard set is available in two colors (white and black), and even though I wipe both down with a damp cloth once or twice a week, I’ve noticed no discoloration so far. The price also won me over, especially compared to my previous Apple Magic set, which cost a total of 310 euros.
Another plus for me is the use of conventional batteries for power: I can easily use rechargeable batteries if needed, and I’m not stuck with a permanently built-in battery that inevitably shortens the product’s lifespan—like with my old Magic Trackpad, which ended up basically always plugged in.
Additionally, the Logitech hardware lets me configure up to three devices at once, which is extremely practical in daily life: I can switch between my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook with a single button press. The typing and clicking feel is very different from my previous setup. The keys are pleasantly quiet but still have slightly longer travel. Even so, scrolling and clicking on the mouse is almost silent.
Customizing the special keys is easy with an (optional) Logitech program, letting me have, for instance, an emoji key that directly opens the corresponding menu, and a dedicated mute button in meetings to quickly mute my microphone. Another button on the mouse even allows horizontal scrolling, which is very helpful in programs like Affinity or Miro.
✅ Comfort: Ergonomic shape and pleasant key feel
🔋 Batteries: Replaceable instead of built-in – longer product lifespan
🔇 Quiet Operation: Virtually silent keys and mouse clicks
💻 Device Switching: Up to 3 devices at the press of a button
🎨 Color Options: White or black, easy to clean
🎛️ Customizable: Individual special keys with Logitech software
💰 Value for Money: Less expensive than comparable Apple products
From Gimmick to Necessity:
Why I No Longer Travel Without a Protective Case
I admit it might look a bit strange to put my Logitech keyboard and mouse into separate protective cases every day. But one look at my old Apple Magic Keyboard and Trackpad is enough: both ended up scratched after so many trips in my backpack. Eventually, some of the keys even broke off. Frustrating!
Although I consider a keyboard and mouse to be everyday tools, I want to use them for as long as possible and protect them from unnecessary wear and tear. This not only saves money but is also better for the environment, as resources are used more efficiently. Having cases for both devices is therefore a worthwhile investment for me, and I recommend it to anyone who frequently transports their peripherals or wants to protect them from dust and scratches. Another advantage is the perfect fit. Specific cases are now available for common models from various manufacturers.
🔇 No More Rattling: Peace and quiet in the backpack
🔐 Protection from Damage: No more broken-off keys
💰 Save Money: Less wear and tear, fewer replacements needed
🧳 Practical for Travel: Easy transport without scratches or dust
